Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

This policy explains what information Dustfront (dustfront.duckdns.org, "the site") collects when you visit or play, how it is used, and the choices you have. Dustfront is an independent, non-commercial hobby project run by a single developer. It has no user accounts and never asks for your real name, address or payment details.

Information the game processes

Display name

To play online you choose a display name. It is shown to the other players in your room (scoreboard, kill feed, chat) and may appear in the server's activity log. Don't use your real name or anything that identifies you.

IP address and connection data

Like any website, the server receives your IP address when your browser connects. It is used to deliver the site, relay multiplayer gameplay, apply rate limits and block abuse. The server's activity log (which records events such as a room being created, players joining and match results) may include your IP address and display name. These logs are used only to operate and troubleshoot the game.

Chat

In-game chat messages are relayed to the other players in your room in real time. They are not stored permanently. Please don't share personal information in chat.

Feedback form

If you use "Contact / Report a problem", the server stores your message, the email address you optionally enter, the time and your IP address, so the report can be read and abuse prevented. It may also be forwarded to the developer by email. Reports are never published. The form uses a simple built-in maths question instead of a third-party captcha service.

Anonymous play statistics

To find out whether the game loads well and how long people play, the game sends a few small events to its own server during a visit: that the page opened (phone or computer, which site it is running on, first visit or returning), when the menu finished loading, how long that took and whether your browser draws the game with a graphics card, when a match starts, on which map and on which side, when a round or match ends (won or lost, how it ended and whether you were still alive), and on leaving how long you stayed, how many rounds you played, your kills and deaths and the average frame rate you played at. Each visit gets a random number that is forgotten when you close the page; the statistics contain no IP address, display name, cookie or other identifier, and they are not shared with anyone. They are kept in daily files on the server and deleted periodically.

Browser storage

The game saves a few preferences in your browser's local storage so you don't have to set them every time: that you confirmed the age notice, your display name, your last chosen team and game mode, and the bot difficulty. They stay on your device and are not sent to anyone. You can delete them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Google Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and understand how the site is used (for example, which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and what device or browser they use). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies, and the data is processed by Google. See how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

The site displays advertisements to help cover hosting costs. Ads are served by Google AdSense.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time through the privacy options on the site. For details see how Google uses cookies in advertising and Google's Privacy Policy.

Sharing

Information is not sold. Apart from Google (for analytics and advertising, as described above) and the hosting provider that runs the server, it is not shared with third parties unless required by law.

Retention and your choices

Server logs and feedback reports are kept only as long as they are useful for running the game and are deleted periodically. You can ask for a feedback report you sent, or log entries about you, to be deleted by sending a request through the feedback form (include enough detail — such as the approximate time and your display name — to find it). Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under data protection law, such as the right to access or object to the processing of your data.

Children

Dustfront contains simulated violence and is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and information from children is not knowingly collected.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the game changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
